Good Morning America begins

ABC's ratings leader Good Morning Americamuddled through its first morning after news broke of the first successful raid on its popular on-air team. Weatherman Sam Champion is leaving tomorrow, to become managing editor, a producer, and anchor of a new flagship morning show at The Weather Channel.

Not coincidentally, Weather Channel is co-owned by NBC, whose Today show is now regularly getting whomped by GMA, after monopolizing the daypart for years. “Cold weather set to hit even LA and Phoenix — one of many reasons to welcome Sam here right at the start,” George Stephanopoulos said awkwardly at the top of this morning’s GMA broadcast.

American Apparel (Amex: APP), the vertically integrated clothing manufacturer based in downtown Los Angeles, has opened a new shop-in-shop inside the flagship De Bijenkorf inAmsterdam. The company's 60 sq. m. concession space inside the high-end department store in the Netherlands will be located on Dam Square, the main town square in Amsterdam.

"We are excited to open this new location in the heart of the city center. Our brand has always resonated well with the Dutch customer and we've been looking forward to bringing this new shopping experience to them," said Marsha Brady, a creative director for American Apparel.

The store will showcase the company's line of fashionable basics alongside its new lines which feature leather, denim and winter products. Its initial inventory will consist of over 50 styles of women's garments. The concession space officially opened on December 2, launching right into the peak end-of-year shopping season.

The concession with De Bijenkorf will be the company's 3rd in Amsterdam, adding to its two locations in the Jordaan and Grachtengordel neighborhoods. The company also brought its world-famous factory flea market to the city earlier this year. It also joins the company's history of shop-in-shop locations around the world, ranging from nearby London to Sydney,Melbourne, and Hong Kong.

Tom Daley's boyfriend revealed

British diver Tom Daley took to YouTube earlier this week to reveal that he was in a relationship with a man.

Although the 19-year-old Olympic medallist stated that he "still fancied girls", Daley said that he had been in a relationship with a man for several months, and he had "never been happier".
Entertainment website E Online! has now revealed that Daley is dating Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of the film Milk.

Black, who is 39, is over twice Daley's age.

A gay news website posted a photo of Daley and Black drinking coffee together in Los Angeles, back in October.

Black won the Oscar for best screenplay for Milk in 2008 and also wrote the screenplay for J Edgar. He has also written episodes of the TV series Big Love.

Workers Burn Down Bangladesh Garment Factory

A devastating fire ripped through a Bangladesh garment factory supplying major Western retailers in a blaze set by workers angered over rumors of a colleague's death due to police gunfire.

Garments are a vital sector for the South Asian nation, whose low wages and duty-free access to Western markets have helped make it the world's largest apparel exporter after China.
But a series of deadly incidents, including a building collapse that killed more than 1,100 people in April, has sparked global concern over weak safety standards in the country's $22-billion garment industry.
There were no reports of casualties in Friday's fire, which gutted a ten-storey building at Gazipur, 40 km (25 miles) north of the capital, Dhaka.
But fire fighters were still battling to douse the fire in four nearby buildings, more than 15 hours after it had begun around midnight on Thursday, after workers finished for the day.

Kardashian Christmas card puzzles

The royal family of reality TV has released its annual Christmas card for 2013, and while many Kardashian fans are delighted by the edgy, high-concept spread, many more appear to be scratching their heads in confusion.

Shot by renowned American photographer and director David LaChapelle, the "card" reads more like a panoramic fashion spread than a traditional holiday greeting note.

Elements of Christmas cheer are conspicuously absent, replaced with gilded statuettes, neon lights, dismantled mannequins, piles of tabloid magazines, and a large dollar sign.
