Winter Classic 2014

The Winter Classic turned into the Tyler Bozak show for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The center not only scored his fifth goal of the season to give Toronto a 2-1 lead in the third period (a lead that would be short-lived thanks to a Justin Abdelkader goal), he would then score the game-winning goal in the shootout to lift the Maple Leafs to a 3-2 win.
With the win Toronto jumped one point ahead of the Red Wings for the No. 7 spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

For Detroit, the loss extended its season-long struggles in the shootout as the team is now 1-7 on the season. Going back to the start of last season the Red Wings are just 3-12 in the shootout. For a team that has players like Pavel Datsyuk, Daniel Alfredsson, Henrik Zetterberg, Todd Bertuzzi and a really good goaltender (Jimmy Howard) that's absolutely stunning.
It's the second time a Winter Classic has ended in a shootout. The 2008 game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres also came down to a shootout.
