A
winter storm system expected to bury some parts of New England
and Long
Island in
more than a foot of snow could also bring blizzard-like conditions
Thursday night and Friday morning to the Lehigh Valley region.
The National
Weather Service is
calling for 6-10 inches of snow in its forecast area, which stretches
from northeastern Maryland to the Poconos.
The
snow began falling in Allentown at 3:50 p.m. Thursday. Almost
immediately, it began sticking to streets and sidewalks.
In
Easton, a vehicle crashed and flipped on its side in the snow about
5:10 p.m., blocking traffic half-way up Washington Street. At about
the same time in Bethlehem, a car crashed at the entrance to the
parking garage of the Sands Casino Resort.
