Santa Clause Parade

Thousands cheered and clapped and shouted out their gift request to Santa while floats made their way from Christie Pits down to St. Lawrence Market.

Mother goose and all her little goslings smiled and waved , tween pop icons One Direction made an appearance in larger-than-life bobblehead form and a giant octopus squiggled his way from Christie Pits down to the St. Lawrence Market as part of this year's Santa Claus Parade.

But fittingly , it was Father Christmas and his raindeer that were the day's big hit.

Thousands cheered and clapped and shouted out their gift requests to a passing Saint Nick who slowed his reindeer to give seasons greetings and shout out the names of greeful little boys and girls reassurance they'd made his coveted 'nice' list.

Andy Kaufman's brother says he is victim of a hoax

Andy kaufman still alive.

The Internet erupted with the buzz after Kaufman's brother read a letter purportedly from Andy at a comedy club on Monday night and introduced a 24-year-old woman as his brother's daughter.

But almost quyickly as reports surfaced Thursday, the news seemed to fizzle, with Michael Kaufman telling CNN's “ The lead with Jake Tapper” that he believes he's a victim of a hoax.

Now that it's Thursday , not Monday anymore , I believe I am part of a hoax” Kaufman said in a bizzare , rambling interview where he spoke in a monotone not like his brother.

Matt Barnes apologizes

I n a series of tweets , Los Angeles Clippers forward Matt Barnes apologized for his actions Wednesday night, including for tweeting that he wouldn't stand up for his teammates anymore.

Those actions cost Barnes $25,00 on Thursday as the NBA fined him for failing to leave the court in a timely manner and using inappropriate language on Twitter.

Barnes and Oklahoma City Thunder forward Serge Ibaka were rejected with 6.2 seconds left in the second quarter after Ibaka and Clippers forward Blake Griffin got tangled up as Griffin tried to put up a shot. It looked like Ibaka had pushed Griffin , and Barnes shoved Ibaka hard in the chest. Players from both teams had to restrain Barnes and Ibaka from each other as Ibaka cocked his right first as if to throw a punch while Barnes continued jawing with him.

Shirley Mitchell dies at 94

Actress Shirley Mitchell who was believed to be last surviving cast-member of the hit CBS sitcom 'I Love Lucy' died earlier this week at 94.

Mitchell died of heart failure on Monday , her sister-in-law Nancy Olson told the website on Wednesdday. The veteran actress played Lucy's friend Marion Strong with the cackling laugh in the classic show during the 1953 to 1954 season.

The Ohio native later appeared in 'Perry Manson', 'The Dick Van Dyke Show' and 'The Beverly Hillbillies'.

Four marines was killed in fatal Camp Pendleton accident

Vehicles file through the main gate of camp Pendleton Marine Base on Wednesday in California. Four Marines were reported killed in an accident on Wednesday.

While bereaved families grieve privately for the four US Marines who died Wednesday in California, unnamed sources have given news outlets conflicting accounts of what happened.

The accident occurred at the Zulu Impact Area of the 125,000 acre Camp Pedeleton near San Diego , where marines conduct artillery and bombing exercises. The Associated Press cited a Marine official who anonymously said the accident had taken place during a “periodic sweep of explosive materials' But according to NBC San Diego , “ source inside the Pendagon said the Marines were not clearing the range , but instead during some sort of training when the deadly detonation accured'.

Montreal teens busted on child porn charges

Chils pornography , peddled by children . That's the serious accusation levelled to 10 adolescents arrested Thursday in the Montreal area. The boys allegedly coaxed their friends and girlfriends into posting they later shared among themselves.

Aged between 13 and 15 years old, they were arrested in a sweap early Thursday in Laval, a suburb just north of Montreal.

They face various charges including the production , possession and distribution of child pornography and are expected to appear in youth court later Thursday.
