Aaron Rogers has broken left collarbone

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the latest Green Bay Packers player to visit the infirmary, could be sidelined several weeks with a broken left collarbone.

Rodgers revealed the diagnosis to 540-AM ESPN listeners on his weekly radio show in Milwaukee, saying the injury was "significant" and that he was feeling "some pain" while adding he isn't sure when he'll return to game action.
Rodgers, 29, suffered the injury on the opening series of Monday night’s 27-20 loss to Chicago when he landed on his left (non-throwing) shoulder after Packers defensive end Shea McClellin sacked him.
NFL.com reported no definitive timetable for the 2011 league MVP exists but Rodgers “likely” would return in time for the playoffs.
Packers backup pivot Seneca Wallace finished 11 for 19 for 114 yards and an interception against the Bears.
Rodgers entered Monday night having completed 67 per cent of his 249 pass attempts for 2,191 yards and a 108.0 quarterback rating. He has 15 touchdown passes and four interceptions.
And since taking over for the equally dependable Brett Favre in 2008, Rodgers has only missed a game due to injury once, on Dec. 19, 2010, for a concussion.

NYC Marathon: Kenyan runners sweep elite titles

Just before mile 24, Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba looked over her shoulder as her lead began to vanish. Once Kenya's Priscah Jeptoo, with her knock-kneed stride belying the ease of her pace, pulled ahead, there was no need to look back.
In her New York City Marathon debut, Jeptoo won the women's race on Sunday with a time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, 7 seconds, almost a minute ahead of Deba. As she crossed the finish line, Jeptoo threw her arms in the air, then leaned over for an extended breath. With the victory, she received a $500,000 bonus for also capturing the World Marathon Majors women's title.
Kenya's Geoffrey Mutai, 32, won the men's race in 2:08:24. It's the third time Kenyans swept both the men's and women's titles (2002, 2003). The only other country to sweep was the United States in 1977.

Dangers of Daylight Savings Time

The end of daylight savings time means that we all get an hour back this weekend, so it's easier to appreciate the semiannual ritual of adjusting our clocks during this time of year. In the spring, when we set our clocks one hour ahead, losing an hour of sleep, daylight savings gets a lot harder to support.
Having to reset your clock isn't the only drawback of daylight savings. Explore some of the dangers of daylight savings in this slideshow.

Kerry Washington smartly handles heavy diversity mantle

If its intention was to prove that Kerry Washington brings a spark of energy to most anything she touches, it succeeded. If its intention was to prove that Jay Pharoah has grown into more than just a skilled impressionist — and judging by previous seasons, not without a considerable amount of work — then it succeeded. Further, it succeeded in addressing – but only addressing – the elephant in the room that is the lack of diversity in its cast.
SNL proved that it can still do what it has always done: slyly address an issue with comedy and confidence, without feeling the need to offer any real solutions or insight as to how to take care of the problem. Perhaps Al Sharpton said it best (what???): “What have we learned from this…as usual, nothing. Live from New York, it’s Saturday night!” Let’s hope he won’t be right forever.

Last night’s episode was full of sketches that left you confused but intrigued, maybe not laughing your hardest but probably wanting more. Diversity was the word on the tip of everyone’s tongue, including the show itself’s, going into this week’s episode. After Kenan Thompson’s remarks to TV Guide a few weeks ago that the lack of a black female cast member since Maya Rudolph left the show in 2007 is due to the show not being able to find black female comedians who “are ready,” the choice to have Kerry Washington host this week seemed appropriately timed.

Buccaneers throttling the Seahawks

Yep, we all saw this coming.
Of course the winless, listless Buccaneers are beating the 7-1 Seahawks 21-0 just before halftime.

Of course they got touchdown passes from Mike Glennon to Tim Wright and Tiquan Underwood, before running back Mike James threw a jump pass touchdown to tight end Tom Crabtree.

Of course the Seahawks are turning it over, and their fans are being quiet.
Of course.

The Seahawks can obviously still get back in it. Teams don’t get to be 0-7 by accident, and the Buccaneers are still making very un-Schiano-like mistakes (like being offside on a surprise onside kick).

But the Seahawks are making as many errors, and don’t have an apparent trusted target for Russell Wilson in the passing game.

Is it time to shut the only women's prison in Israel?

Ninetypercent of the inmates at Neve Tirza were sexually abused as children and there is a recidivism rate of 70 percent.

Haaretz visits the jail to see if rehabilitation is possible there.

Only last year, at age 30, did D. begin to understand the pieces that make up the puzzle of her life.

She was recently discharged from the NeveTirza prison and is presently living in a rehabilitative hostel for former female prisoners

There is nothing she would like more than to be photographed, with her name in the caption, stand before you and point to the guilty parties: her parents and her brother, who live...

Edmonton Oilers' disaster continues in crushing defeat to Detroit Red Wings

DarrenHelm was just happy to be on the ice again. Scoring the winning goal was a plus.
Helm scored in his first game of the season and just his third game since March 2012 due to a myriad of injury woes as the Detroit Red Wings won their third straight game in four nights, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-0 on Saturday.
It was the icing on top of the cake, really,” Helm said of his goal. “The relief came after the game, knowing that I could still play. The goal was just a nice addition to that. I was really excited. It was one of the nicest moments I have had in a while, since this injury bug started. I was pretty nervous. I was pretty anxious and eager to get out there.”

Detroit head coach Mike Babcock was happy to see Helm on the bench again.
