Lorde , Rumored Boyfriend James Lowe Face Cyberbullying , Racist Tweets

Hell hath no fury like a One Direction fan scorned. "Royals" chart-topper Lorde and her rumored boyfriend are facing an onslaught of vile, racially charged tweets from angry 1D followers and other Twitter users who claim she called the British boy banders "ugly" and "overrated."
The 17-year-old singer is reportedly dating 24-year-old photographer James Lowe, who happens to be of Asian descent. After photos of the two at the beach surfaced online, Twitter exploded with insulting comments about Lowe's appearance.

@whosxays: "what the f--k is lorde and that chinese sort of ostrich boyfriend anyway."

@craicdaddyniall: "damn lorde is a lucky girl i bet her boyfriend gives her free manicures and pedicures."

@extrodinlarry: "Lorde called one direction ugly. Girl your boyfriend looks like Mao Tse Tung. (mao zedong)"

@THUGCITY: "lorde's boyfriend looks like the chinese exchange student from sixteen candles."

@NHDroppedHisTea: "lorde's boyfriend or PSY gone wrong you decide."

Many of the tweeters in question quoted the New Zealand singer-songwriter as saying that "All of One Direction are ugly." Some claim she also called Justin Bieber "ugly."

Colin Kaepernick, 49ers overcome rival Seahawks , 19-17

Colin Kaepernick has slayed his boogeyman.
The San Francisco 49ers quarterback got his first win against the Seattle Seahawks in his third start against the 49ers' despised NFC West rival.
Kaepernick got plenty Sunday in the 19-17 victory: four field goals from Phil Dawson, including the 22-yard game-winner with 26 seconds remaining, set up by a 51-yard run by running back Frank Gore.
San Francisco's win might not do much to change the division — the Seahawks (11-2) still have a two-game lead with three weeks remaining — but it certainly sent a message: This rivalry is very much alive.

Adrian Peterson has foot sprain

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson suffered a sprained foot during Sunday's loss to the Baltimore Ravens.
Peterson, who said he is experiencing pain in his mid-foot area, is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday after X-rays were negative.
The NFL's reigning MVP said he does not believe the injury is season-ending.
"Not at all. You should've seen me in here, trying to get back out there," Peterson said. "I kept my pads on throughout most of the third quarter, until I finally was like, 'I'm not going to be able to go.'
"I'm just going to get the MRI done tomorrow, see what it says, and try to push to be ready to play."
Peterson was carted to the locker room after suffering the injury early in the second quarter of Minnesota's 29-26 loss.
Peterson was tackled by Baltimore'sArthur Brown on a third-down reception from Matt Cassel, and fumbled out of bounds as he tried to stretch for a first down.

"I was trying to get the first down," Peterson said. "After that, I didn't know what happened to the football. I was more worried about my ankle."
Peterson immediately rolled over in pain and had to be helped off the field. He was taken to the locker room in a cart after doctors examined his leg on the sideline.

Roy Halladay retires as a Blue Jay

Roy Halladay has retired from baseball, as first reported by Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com.
The long-time ace announced his retirement in a Blue Jays press conference Monday during the MLB Winter Meetings, in which he also announced he signed a one-day contract with Toronto, so he can retire as a Blue Jay.

Halladay, 36, is coming off two injury-riddled campaigns where he failed to live up to his previously high standard of excellence on the hill. This past season he was 4-5 with a 6.82 ERA, which followed a year in which he was 11-8 with a 4.45 ERA.

Though shoulder woes were a problem in those two years, Halladay mentioned during his press conference that back issues were the reason for his retirement and that his shoulder feels healthy.

Those two injury-marred years do not, however, take away from an extraordinary career. Halladay ends up 203-105 with a 3.38 ERA (131 ERA+), 1.18 WHIP and 2,117 strikeouts in 2,749 1/3 innings. He also had 67 complete games, 20 shutouts and a perfect game.

"He was one of the best competitors who ever played this game and taught everyone around him to prepare the right way in order to be the best," said former teammate Cole Hamels. "For me, personally, he helped me understand the game more and gave me insight on how to become a top of the line starting pitcher."

In five career postseason starts, Halladay had a 2.37 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and one no-hitter -- which came in his first career postseason start.

Amazing Race Winners Jason and Amy : We're Still Speechless

Second is the best, right? After six runner-up finishes on The Amazing Race 23, Jason and Amy won the leg that mattered and the $1 million on Sunday's finale. "We definitely did not want to break the record of most second-place finishes!" Amy tells TVGuide . The couple ran a near-perfect final leg and had such a huge lead that "something would've had to have gone horribly wrong" for them to lose. Find out how far ahead they were, why they helped Travis and Nicole so much, and what they'll do with the money.

Congratulations! How does it feel now that everyone knows?

Amy:
Oh my goodness! It was such an unbelievable experience [watching the episode]. We had our family, our friends, and some of the cast was there. We had a mini-reunion this weekend. It really was such a special night to share with everyone.

Jason:
Having the cast fly in and watching the last episode just completed the whole experience of the Race. We really created great friendships with everyone on the Race. Having them support us meant a lot. I want to say a big "thank you" to them for that.

Hour of Code hopes to teach kids a love of computer programming

An initiative backed by a star-studded ensemble that extends from POTUS to Shakira is encouraging students to try coding for an hour in honor of Computer Science Education Week.
That’s the goal of this year’s Computer Science Education Week’s (CSEW) initiative "Hour of Code," CSEW has been going on since 2009, but this year nonprofit Code took over and put the focus on getting kids interested in computer science.

The nonprofit recruited the likes of President Obama, Ashton Kutcher, and Mark Zuckerberg to advocate kids spend one hour this week learning code, in hopes of spurring interest in a future increasingly interconnected with computer literacy.

Garth Brooks to tour in 2014

It’s official: Garth Brooks’ self-imposed hiatus from touring is over, and the country superstar will return to the road for a world tour in 2014, his first since he announced his plan to quit touring in 2001.

Brooks, 51, made the announcement Monday, Dec. 9, to “Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts while discussing his new eight-disc box set “Blame It All on My Roots,” which grew out of his four-year solo residency at the Wynn Encore Theatre in Las Vegas.

He gave no specifics of when the tour would start or how extensive it will be. But he’ll likely provide a preview of what’s to come when he returns to the Wynn in January for two shows with his full band. He also said he’ll be joined on the tour by his wife, singer Trisha Yearwood.
