Autopsy Result of Paul Walker

"Fast & Furious" star Paul Walker may have initially survived a horrific car crash but died moments later due to a combination of injuries from the impact and the resulting fire, according to a coroner's report.

The one-page preliminary report released by the Los Angeles County coroner's office Wednesday listed the cause of the actor's death as the "combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries."

An autopsy concluded that Roger Rodas, who was driving the red Porsche Carerra GT, suffered "multiple traumatic injuries," but it was not clear in the report if he was still alive when the car burst into flames soon after the wreck.

Since two different doctors did the separate autopsies, the difference in the description of their injuries does not mean there deaths were significantly different, Los Angeles County Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told CNN.

Five things to know about your new Wonder Woman Gal Gadot

You might have heard a resounding cry of "who is that?" when it was announced Wednesday that 28-year-old Israeli-born actress Gal Gadot would be cast as Wonder Woman in the upcoming "Batman vs. Superman."

In a statement, director Zack Snyder said, “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

Yet the actress is not a complete unknown. Here are five points of interest:

1) She has appeared in three "Fast & Furious" movies.

Playing the character Gisele Yashar, Gadot first appeared in 2009's "Fast & Furious," the fourth film in the franchise, and reappeared in "Fast Five" and "Fast & Furious 6."

Via Twitter and Facebook, she expressed grief over the recent passing of co-star Paul Walker, calling him "a great man with a big heart and passion."

2) She was in the Israeli army.

Gadot spent two years in the Israeli army. Whether she picked up any fighting skills that will be put to use in her new role as Wonder Woman will remain to be seen. She was also in a controversial 2007 Maxim magazine photo shoot, "Women of the Israeli Army." Image-search away.

3) She was Miss Israel.

At age 19, Gadot competed in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant as Miss Israel.

4) Sorry folks, she's spoken for.

Anyone looking for a new fantasy girlfriend should know that Gadot has been married to businessman and hotel owner Yaron Varsano since 2008. The two have a young daughter together.

5) She's excited to play Wonder Woman.

Gadot is very active on social media. On Wednesday she posted a message on Twitter linking to a Variety story on her Wonder Woman casting with the note "So exciting!!!"
Presumably if the character plays well in "Batman vs. Superman," Gadot will be in line for a stand-alone spin-off.

For Jacoby Ellsbury , it was a one-way street out of town

My colleague Nick Cafardo wrote in the paper today that he thought Jacoby Ellsbury would return to the Red Sox.

This topic is one Nick and I have disagreed on over the last few years and we'll have to again. There was more of a chance that Carl Crawford would light the Christmas tree at Faneuil Hall than Ellsbury would come back.

Ellsbury followed the Jonathan Papelbon plan to perfection. Refuse all offers for a contract extension, go to free agency, sign with the first team that offers you big money and never look back at Boston.

Like Papelbon, Ellsbury didn't even bother to call the Red Sox and tell them he was leaving. Team executives found out the same way you did, via the media.

That's all fine, too. Every player has a right to determine his worth on the open market and Ellsbury took full advantage of that. Just because Dustin Pedroia, Jon Lester, and Clay Buchholz showed loyalty to the organization that drafted them and signed extensions doesn't mean Ellsbury had to.

One more reason Microsoft Office will kill Google Docs

Here's one more reason Microsoft Office is killing Google Docs (now called Google Drive) in the battle of office suites: Google simply isn't serious about joining the fight, at least according to the New York Times. Microsoft is dead serious, and so Google Drive simply won't be able to compete.

The Times, in an article about Google's cloud-based service Google Compute Engine, has this to say about Google Drive:
The business version of Drive, its word processing, spreadsheet and storage service, was first introduced under a different name in 2007. It now has revenue of over $1 billion a year, but current and former executives have complained that it is a low priority inside the company because Google makes so much more money from consumer advertising.
At Microsoft, on the other hand, Office is an extremely high priority because of how important it is to the company's financial health. The Motley Fool reports that Office accounted for 29% of all of Microsoft's revenue in the 2013 fiscal year. Because of that, it's vital for Microsoft to continue to own the Office market. And it does. Gartner says that by the end of the year 630 million business users will be using Office, with 50 million of them using a cloud-based version. And by 2022, it says, 1.2 billion business users will use Office, with 696 million of them using a cloud-based version.

A Computerworld article backs up what the Times says, concluding that Google Apps is struggling to gain ground against Office, particularly in the enterprise. The article concludes that seven years after Google Apps (the enterprise version of Google Docs) was released:
Complacency has diluted [Google's] innovative spirit, and Google Apps now trails competing suites from IBM, Cisco and Microsoft in areas like enterprise social networking (ESN) and unified communications (UC).

Tom: I was dating a girl months before meeting my boyfriend

Olympic diver Tom Daley was dating a woman only a few months before meeting his boyfriend – believed to be an Oscar-winning gay activist 20 years his senior.

The 19-year-old met Hollywood screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, 39, in March, after the Nickelodeon Annual Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

While Daley has refused to name his boyfriend, friends said Black was the mystery man.
Daley, who won bronze at last year’s London Olympics, told The Jonathan Ross Show, which airs on Saturday, that it was ‘love at first sight’, but admitted it was a shock to find he had fallen for a man. He said: ‘People say “why did he have a girlfriend last year?”. Well, because I had a girlfriend last year.

And it wasn’t until spring this year, it came upon me. I didn’t expect it and it happened. Everything kind of clicked, everything went right.’

When Ross asked if he was surprised by his feelings, Daley replied: ‘It was the fact I was falling for a guy and it happened so quickly.’

Daley said he did not want to label himself as gay or bisexual, adding: ‘To be honest, everything is all pretty new and I don’t see any point in putting a label on it.’

Niglla Lawson admits to trying cocaine

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson admitted in court Wednesday that she had taken cocaine, but denied being a habitual user. She accused her ex-husband of trying to "destroy" her, during a lacerating day of testimony that laid bare a materially affluent but deeply troubled marriage.

Lawson said her former husband Charles Saatchi, a millionaire art collector, spread drug rumours about her after he was photographed gripping her throat outside Scott's restaurant in London. The widely published image ignited harsh criticism of Saatchi and was soon followed by their divorce in July.

"He told everyone that he was taking cocaine out of my nose at Scott's when he knows that is a lie," Lawson said, testifying at the fraud trial of two former assistants. She said her ex-husband spread "false allegations that I was a habitual user" who snorted cocaine daily.

Seahawkd stomp Saints, first to clinch postseason berth

A couple thousand Seahawks fans were crowded in front of the television stage when Russell Wilson walked out of the locker room still in full uniform.
Instantly, the chant started.

"MVP! MVP!"

Hard to argue against Wilson after a performance like Monday night.

Wilson threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns, and the Seahawks became the first team to clinch a spot in the NFC playoffs with a 34-7 victory against the New Orleans Saints.

More important than just wrapping up a spot in the postseason, the Seahawks (11-1) moved two games ahead on the rest of the NFC in the race for home-field advantage and hold the tiebreakers over New Orleans (9-3) and Carolina (9-3), the two closest pursuers.

The rest of the top teams better get ready to visit the Pacific Northwest in January. After this rout, the road through the NFC playoffs is almost certain to go through Seattle.

"For us to come out in that fashion and to win that game the way that we did was awesome," Wilson said.
