Cyber Monday vs. Black Friday

On Black Friday, it’s easy to get roped into flashy doorbuster sales promising the lowest prices of the year. Cyber Monday is even more tantalizing, with retailers declaring it the last chance to score bargains as the clock ticks closer to the holiday season.

Thanks to a late Thanksgiving this year – meaning less time to find the perfect gifts for loved ones -- retailers have increased their offerings for sales and discounts as competition grows. But that doesn’t mean all sales are good sales. Consumers looking for the best deals for popular gift items should do their research before swiping their credit cards.

Here at IBTimes, we brainstormed some of consumers’ most-wanted items for holiday gifts and spoke to the experts to help minimize bad shopping mistakes and maximize extra cash in your pocket this season. Here’s a guide to what you should buy this holiday shopping season – and when the best time is to do it is – plus what you should skip altogether.

Matt Flynn Helps Packers rally for rare tie against rival Vikings

The Packers' losing streak without Aaron Rodgers is over, though the frustration continues in Titletown.

A tie did little to lift spirits in chilly Green Bay.
Backup quarterback Matt Flynn threw for 218 yards and helped spark a rally from a 16-point deficit early in the fourth quarter to the Minnesota Vikings early in the fourth quarter. But the teams could only muster field goals in overtime and had to settle for a 26-26 draw Sunday.

"It's an empty feeling. You go out there and didn't lose the game," Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. "But you feel like you didn't accomplish what you set out to do."
Same sentiment in the Vikings' locker room, where one player held tightly to a hot cup of coffee to warm up following a game that started with temperatures in the upper teens.
"I view it as a loss, personally. We gave up a 16-point lead in the fourth quarter," defensive end Jared Allen said. "I don't have a sister, but I'm going to say it's like going to prom with your sister."

For a while, the match was full of heart-racing drama.
Mason Crosby hit from 20 yards at 10:28 of the extra period and Blair Walsh connected from 35 with 3:54 left.

Cam Newton, Panthers rally past Dolphins for 7th straight win

Cam Newton angrily slapped his hands together and stared into the end-zone stands, watching Miami Dolphins fans celebrate the interception he had just thrown.

His mistake helped put the Carolina Panthers in a deep hole Sunday, but Newton knew how to get out.

He led a late comeback for the second time in a week, converting a fourth-and-10 situation at his 20 with a completion to keep alive the Panthers' final possession, and their touchdown with 43 seconds left beat Miami 20-16.

The Panthers (8-3) overcame a 16-3 first-half deficit for their seventh win in a row, their longest streak since 2003.
"It may not be pretty," Newton said, "but at the end of the game we get that three-letter word, and that's gorgeous."
Newton hit Greg Olsen with a 1-yard pass for the winning score to cap a 12-play drive. Carolina also rallied past the New England Patriots with a late drive last Monday.

The Dolphins (5-6) fell to 2-2 since tackle Jonathan Martin left the team and the team's bullying scandal began to mushroom.

Georgia QB Aaron Murray to have surgery for torn ACL

Georgia senior quarterback Aaron Murray will have surgery this week to repair a torn ACL in his left knee, the school said Sunday.

Murray's mother, Lauren Murray, announced in a Facebook post that the surgery would be Tuesday.

Murray injured the knee during Saturday's 59-17 victory against Kentucky.
"He was re-evaluated by team physicians Sunday morning," according to a statement from the school. "Murray experienced minimal swelling and it was determined to proceed with the surgery this week, according to UGA Sr. Associate Athletic Director and Director of Sports Medicine Ron Courson."
Murray ends his career as the Southeastern Conference's all-time leading passer with 13,166 yards and 121 touchdowns. He started 52 consecutive games for Georgia and nearly led the Bulldogs to the SEC title and a shot at the national title in 2012, falling just 5 yards short against Alabama.
Murray returned for his senior season, spurning a shot at the NFL draft, but things didn't work out as expected for the Bulldogs.
Though Murray performed admirably, completing 64.8 percent of his passes with 26 touchdowns against just nine interceptions, Georgia (7-4) was plagued by injuries and fell out of the SEC race with consecutive losses to Missouri and Vanderbilt in mid-October.
The Bulldogs finish the regular season Saturday at Georgia Tech.
Murray tweeted his thanks to fans.

Pacquiao vs Rios: Pacman impressive in victory

There werev a lot questions surrounding Manny Pacquiao heading into Saturday's fight against Brandon Rios.

He answered a lot of those questions definitively, dominating Rios on the way to a unanimous victory. Pacquiao flashed the speed and power that once put him in the discussion for best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.

He punished Rios, battering him with heavy combinations. He didn't leave much doubt early either, coming out of the corner strong in the first round. Many, including one of the judges, scored every round in Pacquiao's favor.

The other two judges scored decisive victories in favor of Pacquiao with one scoring it 119-109 and the other 118-110.

Pacquiao was impressive.
