Will the 'Call of Duty: Ghosts' beat out 'Grand Theft Auto 5'

$800M in a day. I thought it was a typo when I first read that Grand Theft Auto 5 had sold that many copies in 24 hours. Call of Duty: Ghosts has a steep hill to climb if Activision wants to regain its collection of sales record crowns from Take Two and Rockstar, and now here on release day, the question is…can they do it?
Call of Duty has consistently surprised everyone with each iteration constantly outselling the last, at least initially. Every year, day one totals grew larger and larger, ultimately culminating in Black Ops 2′s colossal $500M first day haul that seemed like it could never be touched. Until Grand Theft Auto 5, that is.

'The Voice' recap

It's finally time for viewers to have their say on The Voice, as the show went live for the first time this season with the top 20 artists competing for America's vote.
The three-night extravaganza – which culminates with the top 12 being revealed on a special Thursday night episode – began as frenemies Blake Shelton and Adam Levine squared off with their respective teams. And Team Adam came out the clear winner.

While Adam has started off strong in the past, he's often lost his grip by making questionable song choices or creating oddball arrangements for his contestants, handing the competition over to Blake's winning approach. But if
The Voice wants to stay compelling, that won't happen this season. Indeed, Team Adam seems to once again be teeming with talent.

Emily Wickersham Joins 'NCIS' as Service regular

'NCIS' is adding another femme to the team as of Nov. 19 when Emily Wickersham joins Team Gibbs as a series regular.

Wickersham will play NSA analyst Eleonor Bishop , an idealistic and determined specialist in international threat assessment and preparation , on the CBS TV Studios drama.

Emily Wickersham’s Ellie Bishop is proving to perfectly compliment the NCIS team,” said ”NCIS” exec producer Gary Glasberg.  “Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious.  Great things are planned for Bishop and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on-board.”
Wickersham’s past TV credits include “The Bridge,” “Gossip Girl” and “The Sopranos.” She’s also been seen in such films as “Gone,” “I Am Number 4” and “Remember Me.” In its eleventh season, the Mark Harmon-toplined “NCIS” remains one of CBS’ highest-rated skeins.

Driving a stick : Is the end near?

The manual transmission may be going the way of the Dodo bird, but drivers, like Tibor Kiss, remain diehard fans of the stick shift.

You interact with the vehicle more; it performs the way you want it to perform, ” said Tibor, who recently purchased a 2013 Fiat 500 with a manual transmission. “It’s more fun to drive.”
The stick shift has steadily lost ground to automatic transmissions and now makes up about four per cent of new vehicles sales in the U.S. — down from eight per cent in 2003, said Jeremy Acevedo, auto analyst at Edmunds.com. “To put it gently, we think of them as endangered. We keep seeing less of them.”

Earlier this month, Young Drivers of Canada in the Greater Toronto Area announced that effective February 2014,  it would no longer be offering manual driving instruction.
The move doesn’t surprise Mary Barraco, centre director at Young Drivers of Canada in Windsor.

Buzzfeed is the best thing on the internet

The Sun is "learning all the time" about its digital audience and how to measure engagement, following the introduction of its online paywall in August, according to editor David Dinsmore.

At News UK, publisher of The Sun, this week, for example, Andy Day started in the new role of business intelligence director, as the company continues in its bid to better understand how its audience engages with its content, and to support its battle for the "share of attention".

Speaking at a London Press Club event this morning, The Sun's editor refused to share any digital subscription figures, or even give an indication of how uptake had performed so far in comparison to expectations.

But when it comes to learning about the digital audience, he suggested this was an ongoing area of development, which he expects to continue "over the next two decades".

"I think people underestimate the sea change going on in newspapers," he said. No longer is it just about "lobbing stories in the paper", he added, but instead there is a growing need, and opportunity, to "understand all the data" available, he said. (There is more on how The Sun and fellow News UK title The Times tracks readers across different devices here.)

While he would not reveal any paywall-related statistics, Dinsmore did give a glimpse into the mind of The Sun in terms of where it places itself in the digital content market, identifying BuzzFeed as a competitor.

Aaron Rogers has broken left collarbone

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the latest Green Bay Packers player to visit the infirmary, could be sidelined several weeks with a broken left collarbone.

Rodgers revealed the diagnosis to 540-AM ESPN listeners on his weekly radio show in Milwaukee, saying the injury was "significant" and that he was feeling "some pain" while adding he isn't sure when he'll return to game action.
Rodgers, 29, suffered the injury on the opening series of Monday night’s 27-20 loss to Chicago when he landed on his left (non-throwing) shoulder after Packers defensive end Shea McClellin sacked him.
NFL.com reported no definitive timetable for the 2011 league MVP exists but Rodgers “likely” would return in time for the playoffs.
Packers backup pivot Seneca Wallace finished 11 for 19 for 114 yards and an interception against the Bears.
Rodgers entered Monday night having completed 67 per cent of his 249 pass attempts for 2,191 yards and a 108.0 quarterback rating. He has 15 touchdown passes and four interceptions.
And since taking over for the equally dependable Brett Favre in 2008, Rodgers has only missed a game due to injury once, on Dec. 19, 2010, for a concussion.
