Mistakes pile up in bears 1st loss

Theo Spight wears a Lions hard hat, a jersey numbered "00" and after every touchdown scored by the home team at Ford Field, he grabs a microphone behind the end zone, and thrusts his deep voice into "Gridiron Heroes," the Lions' fight song.
Spight needs approximately 40 seconds to reach the end of each performance. Yet for a stretch of the second quarter Sunday, it would have been easy to think he somehow got stuck on loop.
Forwarddown the field! A charging team that will not yield …
Over and over again.
In a span of 11 minutes, 1 second, the Lions dumped 24 consecutive points on the Bears, turning an early 10-6 deficit into a commanding three-score lead. That tsunami carried the Lions to an all-too-easy40-32 victory.
And if the Bears spent much of their afternoon dizzied by Reggie Bush's open-field moves and Jay Cutler's four turnovers, Spight's repetitive encores had to further the agitation.
"This is the NFL," cornerback Tim Jennings said. "Any time you give a home team that momentum and that confidence, they're going to be tough to beat."
The Bears' bid for a perfect September went off the rails early in the second quarter. After running back Matt Forte provided a 10-6 lead with a 53-yard touchdown dash, the Lions erupted.
There was Bush darting through the middle of the Bears defense, spinning and juking and gliding through openings on his way to 139 rushing yards.

Thursday Night Football: Kaepernick , 49ers appear to be getting back on track

Before the 49ers routed the Rams 35-11 on Thursday night, we had a two-game reminder that Colin Kaepernick is still closer to a rookie quarterback than a polished passer. The 49ers also remembered that in St. Louis, and that’s what got him out of his mini slump.

It wasn’t the prettiest of performances by Kaepernick (15 of 23, 167 yards, 2 TDs), not close to what he did to the Packers in Week
1. Once again, the read option and his running ability (3 rushes, 11 yards) wasn’t a real factor.

But credit Jim Harbaugh and San Francisco’s coaching staff for learning that the dynamic dual threat on which the team leaned during last season’s run to the Super Bowl now needed something on which to lean.

It’s easy to forget Kapernick has made only 14 NFL starts, including playoffs. Much of that stems from how he spoiled us with his veteran-like confidence and strong, accurate passing to match during his late 2012 breakout. see more...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Knows People Are Masturbating To his hot bad!

Well this is embarrassing

Who told Joseph Gordon-Levitt our sexy secret?!?

Honestly, who HASN'T had a JGL fantasy? Especially lately! That boy is looking better than ever these days!

Joe knows he's one desirable dude too because last night, he admitted to Stephen Colbert that he's aware people are masturbating to him!

Stephen was asking Joe about his Don Jon character's inability to take his mind off of porn even while having sex with Scarlet Johansson! Mr. Colbert told a bold-faced lie and claimed not to masturbate to porn EVER, because as he put it...

Meet Mike Glennon , the Bucs'

An 0-3 start to the season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has led coach Greg Schiano to make the decision that he's hinted at ever since the NFL Draft: benching quarterback Josh Freeman in favor of rookie Mike Glennon

Freeman has been with the Buccaneers since being drafted in 2009 and has steadily improved each season while playing for several different coaching regimes, but with the Bucs turning to a rookie, Freeman's future with the franchise lies in doubt.

Glennon starred for Westfield High School in Virginia and was rated the third-best high school quarterback in the nation his senior year. Heavily recruited by Schiano when the coach was with Rutgers, Glennon instead went to North Carolina State where he saw spot duty as the backup to Russell Wilson in 2009 and 2010.

Once Wilson transferred to Wisconsin, Glennon took over the starting job and immediately made an impact. Tossing 31 touchdowns and more than 3,000 yards in 2011, Glennon led NC State to a 9-4 record and a win in the Champs Sports Bowl over West Virginia, the first bowl win for the Wolfpack since 2005.

His senior year was another successful campaign, once again throwing 31 touchdowns while passing for 4,031 yards and leading NC State to another bowl victory. see more...

Power failure Disrupts Metro North's New Haven Line

Hours after a predawn power loss shut down much of Metro-North Rail road’sNew Haven Line early on Wednesday, officials warned that service could be imperiled for several days, and possibly longer, upending commutes for tens of thousands of travelers.

The disruption began after a Consolidated Edison feeder cable in Mount Vernon, N.Y., failed around 5:20 a.m., snarling service between Stamford, Conn., and Grand Central Terminal.

The utility said the type of repairs needed “typically take two to three weeks.” Officials hoped to line up alternative power sources that could hasten a return to normal service, but state and transit officials conveyed little optimism that the fixes would come quickly.

People need to now assume this is a long-term problem,” Gov. Dannel P.Malloy of Connecticut said in a news conference.

After speaking with officials at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the governor said, “It was clear that they don’t have an immediate solution to this problem.”

The authority said commuters who use the New Haven line would encounter a patchwork of trains and buses on Thursday morning, a setup that would continue “until further notice.” The agency said the plan could accommodate about a third of the regular ridership.

Chargers 'devastated' by ex-DB Paul Oliver's suicide

Former San Diego Chargers defensive back Paul Oliver died from a self-inflicted gunshot in Marietta, Ga., on Tuesday night, authorities said, leaving his former teammates and coaches stunned and wondering what had happened to the 29-year-old who last played in the NFL two years ago.

Oliver played for the Chargers from 2007-11, where he was a teammate of Quentin Jammer, now with the Denver Broncos.
"He was a good friend of mine. Great guy. Great guy," Jammer told USA TODAY Sports. "I mean, the early reports were that he committed suicide, and he just didn't seem like that type of guy. You never know what somebody is going through, what's going on in somebody's life."
"I hadn't talked to him in a while. I wish now I could reach out to him. If I'd have known," Jammer said, his voice trailing off.
Oliver killed himself with a hand gun at about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, said Mike Bowman, public information officer for the Cobb County Police Department, though Bowman said Wednesday he did not know the location of the wound. see more...
