Bill Nye in “Dancing with the star”

BillNye is ready to bust a move on "Dancing with the Stars."

The "Science Guy" is part of the new cast of competitors on ABC dancing competition, facing off against the likes of Valerie Harper, Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Keyshawn Johnson and Leah Remini.

So, is he nervous about putting on his dancing shoes on live TV?
"There'snervous, and then there's this other level, which, I think we would go with terrified," he told CBSNews.com.

The 57-year-old TV personality also said his rehearsals with professional partner Tyne Stecklein have been "exhausting."

"I watch myself on video, I'm so bad. It's extraordinary," he added. "The guy has such horrible posture, he's so pigeon-toed -- how can he even move around on the Earth? He's so uncoordinated."
But he's got a good partner in Stecklein, who is new to the competition this season.
"She is an expert at this business," Nye said. "It is just weird to me, as an educator, how good she is -- what needs to be fixed, remembering it, encouraging you, being firm but fair and all that, and she's just a world-class athlete."
Despite those nerves (I'm extraordinarily nervous," he admitted, "But in the theatre [said in a British accent], they would say if you stop being nervous, stop doing it"), Nye is ready to cha-cha -- the style he'll be dancing during Monday night's premiere -- waltz, tango, and foxtrot his way to the mirrorball trophy.
"I'm in it to win it, people!" he declared. See more...

Miss America pageant winner Nina Davuluri

The first Miss America pageant winner of Indian heritage was cheered by family members halfway around the world.
NinaDavuluri’s grandmother told The Associated Press that she cried when she saw the news on television.

I am very, very, happy for the girl. It was her dream and it was fulfilled,” 89-year-old Vege Koteshwaramma said by phone from her home in the city of Vijaywada, in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The 24-year-old Davuluri , a U.S. native, will begin the first day of her reign Monday the same way most of her predecessors did — with a frolic in the Atlantic City surf. She will also speak at a news conference about Sunday’s win.

Davuluri wants to be a doctor and is applying to medical school, with the help of a $50,000 scholarship she won as part of the pageant title. See more...

Peyton Manning vs. Eli Manning again

Much as he tried to hide from a distant family suite, Peyton Manning couldn't conceal his anguish.
He squirmed. He fist-pumped. He grimaced. He clapped.
Peyton Manning wasn't playing in Super Bowl XLII at University of Phoenix Stadium in 2008. His brother Eli was.
What was obvious to the large TV audience, though, was how badly the ever-expressive Peyton Manning wanted his brother Eli to lead the New York Giants to victory against the New England Patriots.
"I pull for him," Peyton Manning said Friday from his locker.
"We pull for each other. Always have. He's five years younger than me so my parents would drag him to all my games."
When Peyton was a freshman and sophomore playing at Tennessee, Eli would
spend many of his middle school weekends traveling from New Orleans to Knoxville. In high school, Eli would usually play Friday nights and get to Peyton's college games on Saturdays.

"At Tennessee, you'd have one off week a year, I'd go back to New Orleans to watch him play a high school game," Peyton said. "In the NFL, you have one off week a year, where was I going? Ole Miss games. I didn't get as many of his games as he did mine, but I went to every one I could. see more ...

Miss New York crowed Miss America

Nina Davuluri became the first contestant of Indian heritage and the second consecutive contestant from New York to win the Miss America pageant Sunday night.
Davuluri, 24, won the title as the nationally televised pageant returned home to Atlantic City.
She succeeds another Miss New York, Mallory Hagan, whose tenure was cut short when the pageant moved back to Atlantic City after a six-year stint in Las Vegas, where winners were chosen in January.
Davuluri performed a classical Bollywood fusion dance for her talent competition.
After the traditional frolic in the Atlantic City surf Monday morning, she will head to the scene of a devastating boardwalk fire in the New Jersey communities of Seaside park and Seaside Heights on Monday afternoon.
The pageant had pitted 53 contestants — one from each state, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands — in swimsuit, evening gown, talent and interview competitions.
"This is where we belong," Sam Haskell, CEO of the Miss America Organization, told The Associated Press. "This is the home of Miss America, and this is where we're going to stay."
Much attention had been given to Miss Kansas, Theresa Vail, who is believed to be the first Miss America contestant to openly display tattoos. She has the Serenity Prayer on her rib cage and a military insignia on the back of a shoulder. While other contestants wore glamorous costumes and elaborately decorated footwear during Saturday night's "show-us-your-shoes" parade on the Boardwalk, Vail wore camouflage gear and Army boots.
In a Twitter message Sunday, Vail wrote: "Win or not tonight, I have accomplished what I set out to do. I have empowered women. I have opened eyes."
Vail made it to the Top 10 and won a nationwide voters' choice award propelling her into the semi-finals. see more...

Dallas Cowboys

The all-red outfits they donned for the first time Sunday drove home the point.

Playing nearly mistake-free for the second straight week, Smith threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns against the ball-hawking Dallas Cowboys, and the Chiefs defense held when it needed to in the fourth quarter to preserve a 17-16 victory.

"When you're trying to build something, you need to win games like this," said Smith, who also had a game-high 57 yards rushing. "These are the games you look at in November and December. You need these types of wins, not only the caliber of the win but the style of win.
"It's not always going to be pretty," he said, "but you have to find a way to bear down."
The Chiefs did that marvelously in the fourth quarter.
Dwayne Bowe's go-ahead touchdown catch and RyanSuccop's field goal had staked them to a 17-13 lead, but the Cowboys were on the move in the closing minutes. After Tony Romo threw three straight incompletions, though, Dan Bailey had to kick a 53-yard field goal. see more ...

Philip Rivers charges upset Eagles

That high-octane, ball-control offense belonged to the San Diego Chargers.

Philip Rivers threw three touchdown passes to EddieRoyal, and Nick Novak kicked a 46-yard field goal with 7 seconds left to lead the Chargers past the Philadelphia Eagles 33-30 on Sunday, spoiling Chip Kelly's home debut.

On Philly's turf, the Chargers (1-1) looked more like the Eagles' ideal offense.
They racked up 539 yards, held the ball for 40:17 and sped things up.
"We kind of no-huddled the no-huddlers," Rivers said. "We had our own rhythm of no-huddle going. It was a heck of a team win."
Michael Vick threw for a career-best 428 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a score. But a porous Eagles defense couldn't stop Rivers all day.

He finished 36 of 47 for 419 yards, and the Chargers punted only once. They fumbled twice inside Philadelphia's 10 in the first half.
The teams combined for 1,150 total yards.
The Chargers got good news after the game when they learned receiver MalcomFloyd was fine after leaving on a stretcher with a neck injury on a hard hit by DeMeco Ryans and Nate Allen on the first play from scrimmage after halftime.

"All the tests right now look good, so it's great for the organization to go out and get a win for Malcom," coach Mike McCoy said.

Following a dynamic 33-27 victory over Washington last Monday, the Eagles (1-1) needed more time to get their up-tempo offense going against San Diego. They crammed 53 plays into the first half against the Redskins, took a 26-point lead in the third quarter and held on to beat the defending NFC East champs.see more...

Breaking Bad recap

To summarize "Ozymandias," the third to last episode of Breaking Badquickly: Hank is dead. Gomez is dead, too.

Todd's uncle Jack and his guys take most of Walt's money. Walt Jr. knows the truth. Jesse is being held captive by the white power Nazis and forced to cook meth with Todd. (A dog on a leash, Aaron Paultweeted.)

Skylerslashes Walt's hand with a knife. Junior calls the police on his dad. Walt kidnaps Holly, then leaves her at a fire station with her address pinned to her baby clothes.

In the final moments of what may be the most intense episode to date, we see Walt sitting by the side of the road, with his one barrel of money and suitcases. The vacuum cleaner man pulls up in his red van, Walt gets in, presumably to start his new life -- possibly in Alaska, but probably not -- since we know he'll be back in Albuquerque. A stray dog walks across the screen. End credits.

"Ozymandias" is a poem written by Percy Shelley about the downfall of kings -- how all people in power will eventually lose that power.see more...
