NFL announces trio of dates of next year's London games

With not one, not two, but three (!) NFL games to be played next season in London, the NFL has announced the dates those international contests will be played.

They are as follows:

Week 4 on Sept. 28: Raiders vs. the Dolphins
Week 8 on Oct. 26: Falcons vs. Lions
Week 10 on Nov. 9: Cowboys vs. the Jaguars

All games will be played at Wembley Stadium.

"Our fans in the UK continue to demonstrate their passion for more football," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement last month. “Next year for the first time we will play three regular-season games in London.

We have scheduled three attractive games with four teams playing in their first International Series game. The growing enthusiasm for the NFL internationally is exciting and we look forward to continuing to respond to this interest in our game.”

Black Friday 2013 at Wal-Mart

"Black Friday is our Super Bowl, and we plan to win." So said Wal-Mart's chief marketing officer Duncan MacNaughton. And exactly how does Wal-Mart plan to crush the competition this Black Friday?: By rewriting the old rules on everything from its door-buster deals to its price-matching policies.

With Wal-Mart changing the rules of Black Friday, shoppers need to use new strategies to score the best deals, too. Here Alison Southwick and Dayana Yochim show you how to shop like a champ this Black Friday at Wal-Mart.

Even More Premium Stock Picks

Dividend stocks can make you rich. It's as simple as that. While they don't garner the notoriety of high-flying growth stocks, they're also less likely to crash and burn. And over the long term, the compounding effect of the quarterly payouts, as well as their growth, adds up faster than most investors imagine.

With this in mind, our analysts sat down to identify the absolute best of the best when it comes to rock-solid dividend stocks, drawing up a list in this free report of nine that fit the bill.

Thanksgiving Recipe

Stuffing or dressing can be found on nearly every Thanksgiving table, but it’s one of the toughest holiday menu items to pull off well.
It’s too dry. It’s too wet. It’s under seasoned. It’s over seasoned. You get the idea: there’s always something just a little off.
Not to worry, we have you covered with four fantastic stuffing and dressing recipes. And we’re not stopping there - we’re going to give you a never-fail recipe for turkey gravy!

4 cups quality white bread, cubed

½ cup onion, minced

¾ cup butter
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
½ teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon dried sage
1 egg, beaten
½ cup cream
Chicken or turkey broth
Saute onion and celery in the butter until soft. Combine the onion and celery with the all of the other ingredients in a large bowl. Add broth until moist. Stuff turkey, or place dressing mixture in an oiled baking dish and bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes.

Rarer than Panda

In the dust of the Gobi desert in China’s far west, ultra-modernity sweeps past an eddy of industrial history in one of railway transportation’s most remarkable close encounters. Hundreds of kilometres of track are being laid to connect the country’s bullet-train network with Xinjiang, a region bordering on Central Asia. Near Sandaoling, a grim and remote mining town on the edge of Xinjiang, the new line runs close to the world’s largest concentration of steam locomotives in active service.

The Sandaoling mine, which opened in 1970, is on a branch of the old railway line between Lanzhou and Urumqi. When the bullet trains start running, coal diggers in the area expect a boom; the plan is to dedicate the old line to freight, which should make transporting coal much cheaper. Every day Sandaoling uses steam locomotives to haul thousands of tonnes of coal out of the vast pit. Around 20 are still in use, far more than a trainspotter can expect to see at work in one place anywhere else.

NYC's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The big balloons soared along with the crowd’s spirits Thursday as the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade made its way through the streets of New York City.
There had been some concerns about whether the wind could keep 16 giant balloons grounded after a wet and blustery storm hit the East Coast a day earlier. But the cherished tradition prevailed when the New York City Police Department decided Thursday that winds were calm enough.
Balloons have only been grounded once in the parade’s 87-year history, when bad weather kept them from flying in 1971.

Bitcoin under pressure

All currencies involve some measure of consensual hallucination, but Bitcoin, a virtual monetary system, involves more than most. It is a peer-to-peer currency with no central bank, based on digital tokens with no intrinsic value.
Rather than relying on confidence in a central authority, it depends instead on a distributed system of trust, based on a transaction ledger which is cryptographically verified and jointly maintained by the currency’s users.
Transactions can occur directly between the system’s participants at almost zero cost, without the need for a trusted third party or any other intermediary, and are irreversible once committed to a permanent and fully public record.
Bitcoin’s mathematically elegant design ensures that the money supply can increase only at a fixed rate that slows over time and then stops altogether. Anonymity, while not assured, is possible with the right precautions and tools. No wonder Bitcoin is so appealing to geeks, libertarians, drug dealers, speculators and gold bugs.

Coment Ison likely didn't survive sun encounter

Comet Ison likely didn't survive its graze past the sun early this afternoon, astronomers say.
"It's not looking good for Ison in my opinion," said Phil Plait, an astronomer who writes for Slate's Bad Astronomy blog, during a Google Hangout organized by NASA Thursday.
"That's kind of my assessment too," agreed Karl Battams, an astrophysicist at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., who runs the NASA-funded Sungrazing Comets Project.

Images from NASA's SOHO spacecraft at 1:12 p.m. ET showed long tails that appeared as though they could be fading toward the sun, and the head of the comet was no longer visible.
By 2 p.m. ET, images from the Solar Dynamics Observatory spacecraft did not show the comet at all, to the surprise of Dean Pasnell, project scientist for SDO, who said the rocky material from the comet wouldn't be expected to evaporate that quickly.

Sharkeisha: sucker-punching teen turns viral sensation

If you've been on the web at all in the past 24 hours, chances are you've seen the name "Sharkeisha" pop up.
She's gone viral on Facebook, has hit the top of Google's search results, and on Wednesday evening her name was at the top of Twitter's trending topics list, leaving many to ask: Who isSharkeisha and why is she so popular?

Unfortunately, her story is not a happy one.

Sharkeisha is the name of a young woman who appears in a violent Instagram video that started going viral on Tuesday night.

In the short clip, Sharkeisha is seen sucker-punching another young woman whose name appears to be Shay.

Is Urban Outfitters Worth the Premium?

Things are actually starting to look up for some US fashion retailers, which can be interpreted as a good sign for the economy. Clothes, while generally seen as essential items, can also be viewed as a discretionary category depending on their price. Urban Outfitters, which offers a diversified range of consumer goods, recently came out with a very solid earnings beat. However, the stock is trading at a significant premium to the industry and peers such as Gap and Abercrombie & Fitch . Is it worth the money?

Urban Outfitters' most recent numbers look good. The company reported earnings of $0.47 per share for the third quarter, up from $0.40 a year ago and beating by $0.02. Revenue of $774 million was up 12% year-over-year and beat the consensus by around $3 million. The news sent shares up about 1.3% in after-hours trading on Nov. 18.
Much of the 18% rise in quarterly profit was due to a strong performance from the Anthropologie and Free People chains. Free People recorded a very impressive 30% increase in comparable-retail-segment net sales, with Anthropologie's figures up 13%. Overall, comps were up 7%, which is fairly impressive in the current spending environment.
Aside from these record earnings, the profit rate is also looking pretty good. The gross profit rate increased 11 basis points for the quarter, and by 99 basis points for the nine-month period ended Oct. 31. Management attributed this increase primarily to a reduction in markdowns and improved margins at Free People and Anthropologie in particular. Contrary to many of its competitors, Urban Outfitters seems to be having a better time navigating the tough teen market at the moment.

Mega Millions' changes pay off in $230 M jackpot

Mega Millions is back in the big-jackpot game, thanks to some recent changes.
The annuity jackpot for Friday’s drawing is up to $230 million -- the biggest amount in 20 months -- while the cash is up to $125 million.

Tuesday’s drawing also produced the game’s first-ever $5 million winner, on the heels of a $3 million winner on Friday – larger amounts than any secondary prize in Powerball.

No one matched all the numbers drawn Tuesday night -- 27, 44, 59, 74 and 75, with a Mega Ball of 3 -- but five tickets matched the first five.

A Texas ticket won $5 million for also having the $1 Megaplier prize-multiplier option. Since the Megaplier came up 5, the usual $1 million prize was multiplied by 5. New York had two $1 million winners, and Florida and Illinois had one apiece.
Friday night, a North Carolina ticket won $3 million.

'Frozen' review

Disney Animation attempts to emulate their classic animated musicals with “Frozen,” an adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen,” but comes up a little, well, cold.
The Snow Queen” is prime real estate for a Disney adaptation, and this musical features a few unexpected plot twists, but it is dimmed by lackluster humor and a rushed structure not as cohesive as previous Disney films.
However, “Frozen” does modernize the Disney princess meme by turning the vulnerable princess and prince charming story on its head. All the stereotypes are here, but “Frozen” puts them on ice. Rather than focusing on a princess who can only be saved by a prince, the film tackles a different type of love-- the power of a sisterly bond.
Elsa (Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell) are sisters gifted with the magical ability to create and manipulate ice. As young girls they innocently use their magic to play games, until an accident almost kills Anna. To save young Anna, a pack of trolls removes her magic and memories, giving her a new lease on life. Elsa, though, is confined to a life of solitude to protect herself and her family from her reckless powers, a decision that keeps her from seeing Anna for many years.

Meet the woman named for the holiday

On Thursday, the family of a Minnesota woman will be wishing a happy birthday to Happy Thanksgiving.

That's Dr. Happy Thanksgiving Reynolds of Minneapolis, to be precise, who will be celebrating her 43rd birthday on Thanksgiving, the holiday that inspired her colorful name.
It's exactly like every other time of the year for me, surprisingly,’’ Reynolds told TODAY.com. “It winds up being something of an afterthought, so shockingly it's never that crazy around this time. As much as I'm sure there should be giant floats and sparklers and perhaps a juggler, no, it's pretty normal on my birthday.”

Her parents, Thora and Kelly Reynolds, were part of the counterculture in the 1960s and chose her unorthodox name when she was born on Thanksgiving. She noted that she narrowly missed out on being named Snow because it also snowed on the day of her birth.

Yes, we were hippies,’’ Reynolds told TODAY.com. “We made our own tofu, our own goat cheese, our own sauerkraut. My parents founded a co-op. They were into it.”

Reynolds got used to people’s reactions to her name while attending 13 different schools during a childhood spent in Minnesota and California.

We were already ostracized because we were hippies in a small town, so it was one more layer of reasoning to be like, 'You people are weird,’’’ she said. “To be totally frank, I think people were like, 'Dude, there's so much there that we could make fun of, that there's just no point. It's almost cruel to make fun of Happy.’

Jennifer Love Hewitt has baby girl

Jennifer Love Hewitt is a mom and a wife. "Jennifer Love Hewitt and her husband Brian Hallisay are thrilled to announce the birth of their daughter," the rep said.

Her "husband." See what they did there? Nothing quite rolls off the tongue like "Jennifer Love Hewitt-Hallisay."

The rep added that "Autumn James Hallisay was born on November 26."
No word yet on the moniker's inspiration or additional birth details.

Another source told the mag that Hewitt, 34, and Hallisay, 35, "got married recently in private."
That contradicts what the well-endowed "Party of Five" alum said at a Pampers event last August.

"I'm not putting that on myself also! We're going to wait," she said of getting married. "I'm going to get down and be cute again and then we'll be ready to go."

Hewitt announced her pregnancy and subsequent engagement to Hallisay in June after the couple had been dating since 2012. Hallisay reportedly popped the question in May while they were vacationing in Europe.

Steam Autumn Sale 2013 Kicks off

Just in time to make Black Friday shopping seem superfluous, the Steam Autumn Sale has begun, bringing with it the same sort of steep discounts on digital games we've come to expect from Steam.
It turns out the leaked sale dates shared earlier this month were accurate: The Autumn Sale will run from today, November 27, through Tuesday, December 3. It appears to be a typical sale without any of the extracurricular activities seen in some of Steam's previous sales. There are the usual flash sales that change every eight hours and daily deals in addition to week-long sales on certain games.
Among the highlights in today's daily deals are Rogue Legacy for $5.09, Skyrim for $7.49, Antichamber for $4.99, and Outlast for $6.79. Meanwhile, some of the standout sales lasting all week include Company of Heroes 2 for $19.99 and Civilization V: Brave New World for $14.99.
Look for more deals over the course of the next week and let us know which games you'll be picking up in the comments.

TVA to pay out $127 M in employee bonuses

Just in time for all of those Black Friday sales, the Tennessee Valley Authority will pay out $127 million today in performance bonuses to most of its 12,612 employees.

For most full-time TVA workers, the annual incentive equals about 5 percent of their pay, or more than $3,600 for the average TVA worker earning the utility's median base pay of about $73,000 a year.
The incentive pay is down nearly 20 percent from the record high paid a year ago, primarily because such payments are based upon ever higher performance standards each year, TVA President Bill Johnson said.
The incentive payments, which include $115 million in Winning Performance pay for most employees and another $11 million in executive bonuses to senior TVA employees, come just a couple of months after TVA granted an average 2.9 percent raise to engineers at TVA represented by the Engineering Association (EA)/ IFTPE Local 1937.

Hairy comedian performs 'Wrecking Balls'

If you thought Miley Cyrus’s music video for “Wrecking Ball” was sexy, wait until you see the Chatroulette version.
Comedian Steve Kardynal surprised people on the chat site in full Miley gear — including sledgehammer and wrecking ball — and gave one of the most heartfelt karaoke performances of all time. Users on the site, which randomly connects people for video chats, seemed to take it in stride. Some even sang along through their laughter.

There’s something irresistibly funny about the combination of a full beard and bright red lipstick.

Hanukkah 2013 meets Thansgiving

It won't happen again for almost 80,000 years: Thursday is Thanksgiving and the first full day of Hanukkah. Some are calling it "Thanksgivukkah." Eyewitness News found people busy on Wednesday preparing to celebrate both.
Sunset Foods grocery store in Highland Park is fully staffed for its busiest day of the year.
"We're hopping. It's all hands on deck today," said T.J. Tazioli, Sunset Foods.
A day that's even more hectic because it's not just Thanksgiving dinner these customers are shopping for.
"It's difficult to shop for both only because you need so much for both holidays," said Jessica Bernheim.

Both, meaning Thanksgiving and Hanukkah-- a rare quirk of the calendar has the holidays falling on the same date. It won't happen again for almost 80,000 years! This monumental occasion has earned the nickname "Thansgivukkah."

Meredith Orgiefsky is shopping for both Thanksgiving and Hanukkah dinner. Double the holidays could mean double the stress, but she says it's all about delegating responsibilities.
"My husband is working on the brine for Thanksgiving and then when he clears out of the kitchen later, I'll start on the Hanukkah part," said Orgiefsky.

For Miriam Eisenberg, the holiday mash-up is inspiring some culinary creativity.

No Pecan Pie

It is a meager holiday in the pecan groves of the South, and the pain is stretching to kitchens across the country.
A rare collision of ill-timed rain, marauding animals and a growing love affair between the Chinese middle class and the pecan has resulted in the worst pecan supply in recent memory. As a result, grocery store prices are up by about 30 percent, which is causing Thanksgiving bakers to think twice about their menus.
It’s like the world doesn’t want us to make pralines,” said Anna Butler, 24, a Texas native who lives on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Ms. Butler has a ticket home to Texas for the holiday, so she and her New York friends celebrated an early Thanksgiving last weekend. She had planned to show off her Texan roots with a black-bottom pecan pie. But at her favorite Manhattan market, a pound of shelled pecans cost $15.99.

That’s a real investment in a pie right there,” she said.
