I
lived in Saskatchewan from 1985 to 1991, when the stench of Colin
Thatcher was still thick in the air.
Saskatchewan
is a small province and Regina is a small town; every morning on my
way to work I had to pass by the house where his wife used to live.
I
was working for the CBC then. Thatcher was doing everything in his
power to get out in jail , and there were appeals and manoeuvres ,
and the dates of these things came and went , and we reported them
all.
It
was , in retrospect , like watching a snake that had been run over by
a car.
