An
arctic cold front is making its way down the West Coast and
temperatures are going to dip below freezing.
Vancouver
is going to start pre-salting some major roads to keep you safe
during your daily commute.
“As
the night progresses and it does get colder, then we’ll be
concentrating on the major roads with salt and salt brine. As well we
will be concentrating on bike routes as well,” explains Murray
Wightman with the city.
He
says the city wants to get a head start on the arrival of winter
weather. “Ya that’s exactly what it is…Then if we do get snow
later on through this week and into the weekend, we’ll certainly be
ready and have the roads treated.”
He
says when the snow does eventually hit the ground, you can help by
unclogging the storm drains around your house to prevent the melted
snow from pooling on the streets.
