CBS'
ambitious new drama finally premiered tonight and introduced viewers
to the residents of Chester's Mill, a small town that's rocked when a
mysterious, impenetrable barrier surrounds it.
Marketed
as a summer-event series ,
the 13-episode adaptation of Stephen
King'snovel of the same name stars BatesMotel's MikeVogel, Twilight's RachelleLefevre, JeffFahey, DeanNorris and BrittRobertson as
the inhabitants struck, you guessed it, under the dome. Now that
you've seen the premiere, we're curious to know what you thought
of Underthe Dome...
Vogel's
Army veteran character Dale "Barbie" Barbara finds himself
in town on a mysterious mission when the transparent dome encases
Chester's Mill, and he teams up with investigative reporter Julia Shumway (Lefevre), whose husband has gone missing. While it seems
like a barrier would cause mass panic, some folks don't seem to mind
it, like "Big Jim" Rennie (Norris), a politician who wants
to gain control of the town. Upping the creep factor? Rennie's
disturbed son Junior (AlexanderKoch),
who takes drastic measures to ensure that he doesn't lose Angie
(Robertson), a sharp-witted nurse with dreams of leaving Chester's
Mill behind. Drastic as in locking her in a bomb shelter.
And
fans of King's novel will probably be intrigued to know if the
creative team behind the series changed the big mystery behind the
dome and why it encased the town: Yes, they did, and yes, King
approved the change. Phew!
And
we can all agree that the shot of the cow split in half, thanks to
grazing in the wrong place at the wrong time when the dome came down,
will probably go down as one of the coolest (and grossest) images of
the TV season, right?
