Tom Daley's boyfriend revealed

British diver Tom Daley took to YouTube earlier this week to reveal that he was in a relationship with a man.

Although the 19-year-old Olympic medallist stated that he "still fancied girls", Daley said that he had been in a relationship with a man for several months, and he had "never been happier".
Entertainment website E Online! has now revealed that Daley is dating Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of the film Milk.

Black, who is 39, is over twice Daley's age.

A gay news website posted a photo of Daley and Black drinking coffee together in Los Angeles, back in October.

Black won the Oscar for best screenplay for Milk in 2008 and also wrote the screenplay for J Edgar. He has also written episodes of the TV series Big Love.

Workers Burn Down Bangladesh Garment Factory

A devastating fire ripped through a Bangladesh garment factory supplying major Western retailers in a blaze set by workers angered over rumors of a colleague's death due to police gunfire.

Garments are a vital sector for the South Asian nation, whose low wages and duty-free access to Western markets have helped make it the world's largest apparel exporter after China.
But a series of deadly incidents, including a building collapse that killed more than 1,100 people in April, has sparked global concern over weak safety standards in the country's $22-billion garment industry.
There were no reports of casualties in Friday's fire, which gutted a ten-storey building at Gazipur, 40 km (25 miles) north of the capital, Dhaka.
But fire fighters were still battling to douse the fire in four nearby buildings, more than 15 hours after it had begun around midnight on Thursday, after workers finished for the day.

Kardashian Christmas card puzzles

The royal family of reality TV has released its annual Christmas card for 2013, and while many Kardashian fans are delighted by the edgy, high-concept spread, many more appear to be scratching their heads in confusion.

Shot by renowned American photographer and director David LaChapelle, the "card" reads more like a panoramic fashion spread than a traditional holiday greeting note.

Elements of Christmas cheer are conspicuously absent, replaced with gilded statuettes, neon lights, dismantled mannequins, piles of tabloid magazines, and a large dollar sign.

Tom Harrison Garage

Barry Greenfield isn’t typical Cellar fare, but the Cellar isn’t only about jazz. Greenfield was preparing to return to the Cellar, Feb. 27, for the 13th time. Here, he reflects briefly on  the imminent closure.
The Cellar was perfect for my return to live work,” Greenfield says. “I sold out all 12 shows — all ages, all loud, all receptive.
I insisted on using my own soundman, and that was a key to its power. It sounded like I needed it to sound — clean, bright, and loud. I never did the same set. Bands ranged from seven members, to trios, to duos, to a couple of solo nights. Storytelling worked well at the Cellar.
I liked paying Vancouver musicians, and they now have one less place to make a buck.” he continues. “I did the Meek Theatre, Presentation House, the Rothstein Theatre, but always came back to the Cellar. It was the intimacy I liked.
It’s over. That’s good, too. I want to change. Art is always about changing. I improved on guitar, musical arrangements, vocals and storytelling because of my semi-annual Cellar thing. I will miss it. It was an OK joint, but it had no dressing room. I didn’t like that.”

Vancouver prepping roads for winter weather

An arctic cold front is making its way down the West Coast and temperatures are going to dip below freezing.
Vancouver is going to start pre-salting some major roads to keep you safe during your daily commute.
As the night progresses and it does get colder, then we’ll be concentrating on the major roads with salt and salt brine. As well we will be concentrating on bike routes as well,” explains Murray Wightman with the city.
He says the city wants to get a head start on the arrival of winter weather. “Ya that’s exactly what it is…Then if we do get snow later on through this week and into the weekend, we’ll certainly be ready and have the roads treated.”
He says when the snow does eventually hit the ground, you can help by unclogging the storm drains around your house to prevent the melted snow from pooling on the streets.

Teenage British diving star Tom Daley

Tom Daley, the 19-year-old British diving star who won a bronze medal at last summer’s Olympics and is one of his nation’s most famous athletes, posted a YouTube video on Monday that revealedhe’s currently in a relationship with a man.

In the frank, five-minute clip, which racked up more than a half-million views in its first few hours online, Daley said “I still fancy girls” but revealed that he’s recently started dating a man.
Come spring, this year, my life changed. Massively. When I met someone and it made me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great. That someone is a guy. And it did take me by surprise a little bit. It was always in the back of my head that it could happen, but it wasn’t until the spring of this year that something clicked. It felt right. Like I said, my whole world just changed right there and then.”

Daley said he opted to use YouTube as his forum because he wanted his words to come out clearly.

American Eagle Outfitters an early holiday-shopping winner

It probably wasn't the Black Friday shopping weekend that most retailers had hoped for -- but an analyst's report saidAmerican Eagle Outfitters had a better-than-average performance.

American Eagle Outfitters (NYSE: AEO) had "very strong traffic and conversion at AEO" on Black Friday, according to a report released Monday by Sterne Ageeanalyst Ike Boruchow and Tom Nikic. It said American Eagle had a 50 percent off storewide deal this year, compared to 40 percent a year ago.
What about the weekend for the entire specialty retail industry.

"This year Black Friday gave us a taste of what to expect for the remainder of the holiday selling season: intense competition, deep discounts, and choppy mall traffic. Earlier store openings drove heavy traffic, which dissipated and then bounced through the day," Boruchow wrote.

Sterne Agee said the stores opening on Thursday brought more customers to the stores on Thanksgiving evening.
